Pyeongtaek Plant that is able to manufacture 220,000 or more of fully built units a year consists of Head Office, Manufacturing Factory, R&D Center, Shipping Office, etc. on the land with about 992,000 m². Pyeongtaek Plant is a core base of SsangYong Motor equipped with high efficient manufacturing facilities and systematic quality control system and 'Mecca of 4WD' of Korea, and consisted of SUV factory to manufacture 「Rexton W」,「Korando C」, and 「Korando Sports」, MPV factory to manufacture 「Rodius」, and passenger car factory to manufacture 「Chairman W」 and 「Chairman H」.

Title New SsangYong assembly plant open in Sri Lanka

Micro Cars Ltd, the official SsangYong distributor in Sri Lanka, recently held a ceremony to mark the renovation of the assembly plant. Located in the Board of Investment export processing zone, approximately 67km away from capital city Colombo, newly built assembly line can assemble SUV and compact sedan with production capacity of 14,600 units per year.
To celebrate opening of the plant, Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, the president of Sri Lanka visited the factory as a chief guest with few ministers. During the visit, he also mentioned that the Sri Lankan government will give the fullest support to the local automobile assembly industry.
As a sole local assembler in Sri Lanka, Micro Cars has recently launched Korando, Actyon Sports, Rexton and the Stavic and expects that the new manufacturing facility, will positively affect to SsangYong sales in Sri Lanka.

Starting in the fourth quarter, the company is rolling out the Rexton W, a sport utility vehicle, in India. The plant will be in charge of reassembling complete knock-down kits of auto components from plants in Korea.
In an industrial town 1,200 kilometers southwest of Delhi, India’s fourth-largest carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has completed a facility to reproduce the Rexton. The factory will be in charge of importing pre-assembled parts of Rexton from Korea.
